Today was Isaac's birthday. Cherry has this saying and it goes something like this if you do too many things you don't do any of them well. That pretty much sums up my life right now.

Isaac wanted Breakfast in bed for his birthday. So knowing that I would just be getting home from work when he got up I bought cinnamon rolls from Costco. Rob had him served and munching away when I got home. Then he wanted to take cupcakes to school. Rob made the cupcakes the night before and I was planning on frosting them. I made the frosting and put these little star wars bouncy balls on top. They actually looked cute(for 2.5 seconds). Then we got in the car to go get Isaac and the frosting melted and the balls started spinning off of the cupcakes and it was not looking so pretty. Brianna said mom no one will like those :(. She was right so we headed straight to the grocery store. We bought cupcakes but by the time we got back to the school and found parking and I walked both Brianna (with no shoes because she only grabbed one on the way out the door and didn't like the pair that was still in the car) and Seth carrying cupcakes most of his class was gone. His teacher is so really really nice she said she would put them in the fridge until Tuesday. I don't know why I didn't just go and get them at the store in the first place. I don't know why I think that I could make a cute enough cupcake. I guess because I surround myself with incredibly talented friends. Why didn't I call Shannon and ask for help? Isaac forgave me. Mrs. Garcia (his kindergarten teacher) said its great it just makes his birthday last longer.I love her!
The day did get better we went out to pizza and then Brianna had her first soccer practice. Matt is coaching the team. (He does everything and still does it well)He was so incredible with her. She even wore her uniform to bed. She is so excited. Then we went to Rite Aid and got ice cream.

Happy Birthday

Today was my Grandma Ruth's Birthday. She was so much fun I could sit and play rummy with her for hours. I could talk to her about anything and everything. I miss her and think of her often. I wonder what she would think of my life. She introduced me to bagels and cream cheese. I can't pass by Winchells dounuts and not think of her. That coconut cake from pepperidge farm and Bacon lettuce and tomato sandwiches are all things that make me think of her.

Brianna asks

Yesterday after we drop Isaac off at school Brianna says "Mom how come Jesus only gets to have special powers?" I said well he worked really hard for those and did everything that Heavenly Father asked him to. Brianna so if I do everything I can have special powers too. I said yes. Isnt that how it is when your obediant your blessed..What sparks her little mind to ask such great questions?

I am so not ready for this...

Isaac's first day of first grade. Isaac is growing up way too fast for me. I want to slam on the brakes and just hold him. I picked him up from school today and he held my hand all the way to the car. I know that he will be way too cool for that very shortly and it brings tears to my eyes. Isaac said he likes first grade because his teacher Mrs. Franklin is really really nice.

Church Today

Okay at what age do my kids have to be so that my hair, eyelashes, and earing are not pulled out during sacrament and I don't feel like I am some kind of jungle gym that is being violated. It is truely a triumph to make it through that hour. Today church was amazing. If it was this way every week I could endure the horror hour of sacrament with my kids. Both Sunday school and Relief Society left me wanting to do better... I know that is the whole point.. only today it really worked.
President Ezra Taft Benson said: “Men and women who turn their lives over to God will discover that He can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He will deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, strengthen their muscles, lift their spirits, multiply their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, raise up friends, and pour out peace. Whoever will lose his life in the service of God will find eternal life” (The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson [1988], 361).
